Examination Policy

Prepare for assessment, understand examination conduct and know what to do if something goes wrong.

1. Before booking

Learners must be registered for the correct qualification, meet its published assessment requirements and have the applicable qualification fee paid before the examination. WTTA fees per candidate are USD 299 for Levels 2 and 3, USD 350 for Levels 4 and 5, USD 90 for short courses, and USD 140 for reservation-system training and tour-guiding certificates. The ATP coordinates bookings, while WTTA confirms assessment eligibility. Payment alone does not guarantee a pass or award.

2. Examination information

Before booking, provide the candidate with the assessment format, duration, permitted materials, pass criteria, identification requirements, location or online arrangements and applicable fees. These details must follow the qualification specification; there is no universal pass mark or resit limit assumed by this policy.

3. Assessment format and duration

  • Short courses: examination only, 30 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes.
  • Reservation-system training (SABRE, Galileo and Amadeus): examination only, 50 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes.
  • Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications: examination only, 60 multiple-choice questions in 120 minutes.
  • Level 4 and Level 5 qualifications: examination only, 90 multiple-choice questions in 180 minutes.

4. Identity and attendance

Use the same name as your registration and bring a valid photo ID matching the published examination instructions. Arrive or join at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start. For late arrival, absence or an identity mismatch, contact the invigilator immediately; admission or rescheduling depends on examination security and the published arrangements. A new fee must be disclosed before any resit booking.

5. Online examination photo and incident review

Before starting an online examination, provide a clear face photo by upload or camera capture and accept the displayed photo and monitoring notice. A photo upload is not automatic identity verification. Official examination entry requires an active enrolment and verified payment. Clearly labelled test profiles may enter demo examinations after registration without recording a real payment; test results do not confer an official award. The server deadline continues if the page is closed or refreshed. The platform records browser-reported tab changes. Official exams do not use AI camera monitoring; demo-only local AI is described below. There is no face recognition or continuous video/audio recording. The first three counted incidents generate warnings. A fourth suspends the attempt, retains saved answers and places the result into human review—not automatic failure. For consenting demo exams, on-device prototype AI estimates missing faces, multiple faces and visible phones. Live frames are not recorded or uploaded; only incident labels are stored. Models load from jsDelivr and Google. Camera access must stay on and interruptions lock answering until reconnection while the deadline continues. Official examinations remain browser-monitored. AI estimates can be wrong and are not identity verification or proof of cheating. Technical or connectivity problems must not alone be treated as confirmed misconduct. WTTA reviews the incident timeline and relevant evidence before clearing a flag, confirming misconduct or authorising another attempt. Decisions must include recorded reasons and remain subject to the appeal policy. Entry photos are privately accessible to the learner and WTTA admin; admin may permanently remove a photo after the attempt closes while retaining the examination and incident records. Request accessibility arrangements before starting.

6. Reasonable adjustments

Request adjustments through your ATP or directly from WTTA, preferably at least 10 working days before the examination. Explain the barrier and provide relevant supporting information only where necessary. Late requests will still be considered where practicable. Confirm approved arrangements in writing; adjustments must support access without changing the competence being assessed.

7. Conduct and permitted resources

Follow invigilator instructions and complete your own work. Do not communicate with other candidates, copy, impersonate another person, record or share examination content, or use unauthorised notes, devices, websites or AI tools. Only resources explicitly permitted in the examination instructions may be used. Online candidates must meet the published technical and supervision requirements.

8. Disruption and special consideration

Report illness, technical failure or disruption immediately and ask for an incident record. Submit a special-consideration request with relevant evidence as soon as possible, normally within 5 working days. WTTA should investigate before deciding on a remedy such as rescheduling or reassessment; a request does not automatically change a grade.

9. Results, malpractice and appeals

Release results after required quality checks, using the timeframe communicated for the assessment. For suspected malpractice, notify the candidate of the concern, allow a response and use an impartial review before a final decision. Any sanction must be proportionate and explained in writing. Candidates may appeal through the Appeals Policy. Resit arrangements and charges must be provided before a new booking.
